For the life you paid for one long day at a time

One Day I Looked in the Mirrorand Thought:Crap. That’s My FatherStaring Back at Me.

Remember when wills and trusts were something our parents needed? Well… here we are.

There is a home you stretched every paycheck to keep. Retirement accounts built one contribution at a time. Maybe a business that got the best hours of your day. Your children grew up while you worked Saturdays so they could have more than you did. Now “someday” does not feel very far away.

A private inquiry does not create an attorney-client relationship. The firm must review the matter before offering an engagement.

You did not work yourself to the bone for a pile of assets.Let’s talk about what you want and formulate a plan that works for you and your family.

A note from Derek

You worked your fingers to the bone so they could have more.

You bought water instead of beer. You passed the good steaks and chose the marked-down package. If it was not on the sale rack, you did not buy it. You drove the old car another year. You took the extra shift and paid for it with your back, your hands, your knees, and time you never got back.

You did not call it sacrifice. You called it groceries, the mortgage, braces, tuition, and doing what had to be done. You wanted your children to walk into school with a full lunchbox. You wanted your grandchildren to feel proud of the clothes they wore. You wanted the people you loved to have choices you never had.

My mom and dad lived that life. They worked, saved, scraped, and went without so their children could have more. That is why this is personal to me. I know who you have been doing all of this for.

“I worked my whole life to take care of them. I need to know they will be okay when I am not here.”

A trust cannot replace you, and no plan can promise what life will bring. But planning lets you make your own decisions about the home, the savings, the business, and the people behind every sacrifice. It carries forward the promise you have already kept for decades: I will do everything I can to take care of my family.

Why I charge for the first conversation.

We are a small law office. As lawyers, what we have to give is our time, attention, judgment, and experience. When that time is spent giving free information to people who are only shopping around, it is taken away from the clients who hired us for focused help with something that matters to their families.

I prefer to work with people who respect my time and my need to support my family—because I understand that you are here for exactly the same reason: you love your family and want to take care of them. A paid consultation is mutual respect. You receive my undivided attention for a specific purpose, and we both decide whether working together is the right fit.

We do not run a document assembly line. When we accept additional estate-planning work, the goal is a plan tailored to your life, your property, your concerns, and the people who depend on you. That work takes care and capacity, which means we can accept only a limited number of clients at one time.

We value our time. That is why we value yours.
$250 · 30 MINUTES

Consultation and diagnosis only.

The attorney listens to the facts, identifies the legal situation and possible next steps, and discusses what service may be appropriate. The attorney does not review documents or perform any other legal work under the $250 engagement.

Every document review, drafting project, revision, implementation step, or other legal service requires a separate written agreement and a separate fee.

What your family sees

They see the life you gave them. You remember what it cost.

01

You worked yourself to the bone.

The house came from years of stretched paychecks. The retirement accounts came from money you did not spend. The business came from early mornings, late nights, and weekends you never got back.

02

Every sacrifice had a name.

The college payment. The braces. The first reliable car. The clothes your grandchildren would feel proud to wear. You went without because somebody you loved needed more.

03

Now put your decisions in writing.

We sit down and identify who depends on you, what you built, and what you want to happen. If we are the right fit for additional work, a separate engagement can turn those decisions into a plan made for your family.

What you built to protect

None of it arrived by accident.

A paid professional service

Sit down together and make a plan that fits you and your family.

The $250 engagement buys one 30-minute consultation and diagnosis based only on the facts you describe. It can help identify the planning problem and possible next steps. It includes no document review, drafting, revision, implementation, or other legal work.

Any will, trust, power of attorney, transfer document, funding work, or other planning service requires a separate written agreement and separate fee. The firm is not obligated to offer additional work, and you are not obligated to accept it.

Your next step

One clear step at a time.

Begin with the private conflict check. If the matter can proceed, the secure path continues through the service-specific agreement, $250 payment, and calendar in that order.
